Whitinger & Company Employee Earns Master’s in Accounting July 1, 2020

Whitinger & Company LLC is proud to announce that Emily Rivers, Bookkeeping and Payroll Coordinator at Whitinger & Company, recently completed her Master’s in Accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University

Emily, a native of Sharpsville, Indiana, started with Whitinger & Company as a bookkeeper in 2017. As a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisior, Emily works directly with new bookkeeping and payroll clients to ensure they have a seamless on-boarding process. She also works with the internal bookkeeping and payroll team at Whitinger & Company to evaluate workflow, coordinate training, and research technology and software solutions to ensure quality and accuracy in the workplace.

Emily graduated from Anderson University in 2009. Prior to joining the Whitinger team, she worked as the office manager at Hochstedler Energy Systems in Greentown, Indiana. In this role she gained extensive experience in the foundational bookkeeping and payroll systems of a business.

Emily went back to school in February of 2019, first taking a few basic accounting courses, before continuing on the path toward her Master’s in Accounting, achieved on June 12, 2020. The program consisted of 10 classes, each running over the course of 6 weeks, with little to no gaps in between. She completed all ten classes over the course of fifteen months while continuing her work full-time for Whitinger & Company.

“My hope is to use this education and experience to bring that extra level of care and customer service to the team. Returning to school and studying in this field has helped me to really nail down my skillset, and my hope is that I can add more value to the firm and better communicate with clients to help them achieve a better understanding of what we are doing to help them,” stated Rivers.
