Whitinger & Company is pleased to announce the addition of three accounting professionals to the regional accounting & advisory firm’s Muncie office. Maria King joins the firm as Accounting Assistant and Kim Long and Carrie Fender come aboard as Bookkeepers.
Maria King has filled the newly created position of Accounting Assistant where she provides support to the firm’s Business Manager including assistance with accounts receivable tasks such as bank deposits, posting payments, processing credit card payments, preparing collection letters and statements, as well as assistance with client billing and monthly reporting. This position is vital to the overall efficiency of the firm and has numerous client touch points that require the highest level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. Maria also serves in a backup/overflow role for Whitinger Bookkeepers who work directly with clients.
Maria is from Parker City, Indiana and currently lives on a small farm outside of Selma, Indiana with her husband, sons, and two German Shepherds. She graduated from Monroe Central High School and went on to receive a Technical Certificate in Accounting, Payroll, and Bookkeeping from Ivy Tech Community College. Before joining Whitinger, Maria served as Financial Coordinator for Burris Laboratory School.
Kim Long and Carrie Fender recently joined the firm’s growing Bookkeeping & Payroll Division. Their responsibilities include bookkeeping, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow management, and bank reconciliations for business clients of the firm. They are also responsible for numerous payroll clients, including processing their weekly/bi-weekly payrolls, which included all monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
Kim is an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Manager previously holding similar positions in Public Accounting, Small Business, and with Ball State University. Kim received an associate degree from Ball State University. She and her husband of thirty-six years have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Carrie is a native of Selma, IN and an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Manager. Before joining Whitinger, she was Head Teller for First Financial Bank, spent fifteen years as Office Manager for Johnson Oil Company and most recently worked in the accounting department for G&G Oil. She and her husband have two children.
